Richard Kittredge, Ph.D.
President
Richard Kittredge received his Ph.D. in formal linguistics and
mathematical logic from the University of Pennsylvania in 1969.
During the 1970s and 1980s he pioneered the development of practical
systems for machine translation and text generation at the University of
Montreal, where he was Professor of Linguistics until his retirement in 2006. He is a
world-renowned expert in the description and processing of sublanguages,
the varieties of language used in specialized fields such as finance,
weather and aircraft maintenance. His research interests include
multi-lingual text generation, summarization and paraphrase.
Dr. Kittredge founded CoGenTex's Montreal affiliate in
1989, and was co-founder of the Ithaca-based company with
Dr. Tanya Korelsky and Dr. Owen Rambow in 1990.
His primary activities include company management and consulting.
